With your usual Friday Link Roundup mastermind away for the week, I’ve hijacked the spot to talk about something I love dearly. That would be Marvel’s Agent Carter. (Full disclosure: Jeff loves Agent Carter too, and he is the only reason I know it exists, so hijack is probably an overstatement). This show is strongly written, and the latest season’s costume and set design have been an utter delight. The finale of season 2 aired this week, and fans like us hope that we’ll see more of Agent Peggy Carter, Mr. Jarvis, Daniel Sousa, Howard Stark, Rose (!), and the otherwise intrigue-y world of the SSR in a yet-to-be-announced 3rd season. Read on for some great material all about Peggy and the gang. There are a few season 1 spoilers in the links below, but no season 2 spoilers of any kind until the very last link, which is marked. Join us in spreading the message to #RenewAgentCarter far and wide.

Lauren is our Pop Cult Leader this week, and she takes Jeff through what the show is, why we should watch it, […]
The Academy Awards are today and, despite a few exceptions that prove the rule, listing off this year’s crop of nominees is like a schoolteacher taking attendance. “An American making tough choices at war time?” “Here!” “Man-versus-nature suffer-fest?” “Here!” “The courageous LGBT role, performed by a straight person?” “Here!” “Heart-wrenching family drama?” “Here!” “White people?” […]
The Oscars air this Sunday and we’re got our predictions on lock. Leo is going to win, and it’s going to be interminably long. Even with these guarantees, we’re looking forward to the big show, and are genuinely impressed with a lot of the films we’ve seen this season. This week, we’ve compiled a list […]
Superheroes are some of the longest lasting characters of our modern pop culture history, and some of the earliest examples are still to this day the most well known of the genre. Superman and Batman were both created in the 1930s, and today they are two of the most easily recognizable fictional characters in the […]
This week we’re talking all things Oscar, but before we get into that, we’d love it if you subscribed to our Podcast on iTunes! For our Oscars special, Jeffrey Bryan is our Pop Cult Leader, and he takes us through this year’s nominees, the lack of diversity among the nominees (and what the Academy is doing to […]
